From IIM to IIT- Voice of Indore reaches IIT Indore for Auditions

Amidst the major global leader’s voices coming together for the Global Investors Summit in Indore, voices of a different kind were heard at auditions at different colleges in Indore. ‘Voice of Indore’, popularly known as VOI, a flagship event hosted by the Indian Institute of Management Indore  conducted auditions across colleges in Indore to search the best voice in Indore. With the upcoming annual management and cultural fest of IIM Indore, IRIS 2014 already setting the momentum and the hues could be seen at the round of VOI auditions that were conducted at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore this Friday, the 10th of October 2014.

The crescendo of voices met with the melodies of students from institutes like IIT, Medi-Caps Institute of Science and Technology, CDGI, Maharaja Ranjit Singh College, etc. The mix of old, new and self composed raps added a unique flavour to the auditions of the shortlisted candidates from their respective colleges. The contestants were judged by Anuja Zokarkar, who has aced the Indian classical music with her upbringing in a musical family under the discipline of renowned vocalist Vidushi Kalpana Zokarkar, her mother. Anuja, a silver-medal winner at All India Radio in 2010, has also given voice to some commercial albums. Her accomplishment as a singer for a Marathi movie ‘Baabu Band Baaja’ that was felicitated with the best movie at Pune International Film festival made her a judge who could connect with the audiences of the college youth.

The commencement of the program saw participants in full vigour with the sur and taal in perfect match. “It was a unique experience for an IIT to be associated with such an IIM at a large scale...” said Aditi, a contestant who added her melody to the event. While the top three winners from this zone of auditions would meet at the finale event of the VOI to be held during the fest on 13-15 November this year; the day ended on a beautiful vocal of the judge Anuja, who sang on the special demand of the huge audience after she shared her insights about the event and the music. The curtains for the day drew on a tune that certainly told that a tough competitive curtain shall be raised on the finale.

IRIS, a platform for Great minds

“Great minds have purposes; others have wishes”

Do you wish to find your purpose? Come, construe and make sense out of a thing that only your mind can crack and show the world your purpose!

When you defer to not be tamed and subdued by misfortune but rise above all by making extraordinary out of commonality, you prove your mind’s worth. For this, you ought to commit to give your heart and soul and grab the opportunity to make it big.

A strong, deeply rooted desire is the starting point of all achievements. To achieve greatness, start where you are, use what you have and do what you can. IRIS will provide you the right platform to reach the pinnacle. If you can imagine it, we’ll help you achieve it; if you can dream it, we’ll help you become it!

Great persons did not achieve greatness over night neither did they have it thrust upon them. They created greatness out of nothing. For, the best way to predict future is to create it. It is our choices that show who we truly are, far more than our abilities. To follow the dream in your heart, come contribute your values on this platform for it will energize, inspire and motivate you to achieve it.
Great men like Mahatma Gandhi chose to be the change they wished to see in the world. It is that little something which calls for a change which in turn brings with it, a revolution.  If you have an eye for the darkness, you can see the twinkling stars! Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate; but that we are powerful beyond measures. When all our powers come together, we build, in unison, a world of wisdom.

So come, construe, commit and contribute towards creating a world with your thoughts. Think, act and become tomorrow’s great mind. Dare to out learn your best performance. Think big. Dream great dreams and IRIS will help you take actions to realize your dreams.

IRIS - The Rebirth

The word “Iris” originates from Greek Mythology, where IRIS was worshipped as the goddess of the Rainbow. Just as a rainbow symbolizes transformation and rebirth, IRIS 2014 marks the rebirth of the Legacy of IIM Indore.
IRIS started off in November 2001 as the management festival of IIM Indore with participation from all premier b schools of India. Held in the serene and beautiful campus of IIM Indore, Iris has been an irresistible combination of entertainment and education since 2000. It has been the highest points in the calendar at IIM Indore as the institute warms up itself to the budding managers and talented minds from more than 30 esteemed B-Schools of India. Over the years it became a celebration of the managerial acumen and a platform to exhibit one's potential in the various facets of management.
In the year 2009, IRIS spilt off into Ahvan and Mridang. Ahvan became IIM Indore’s management fest and Mridang the cultural festival. Ahvan 2013 witnessed participation from over 50 premier B-Schools across the nation who battled it out across several events that tested their managerial acumen. Some of the flagship events at Ahvan were Ashwamedha, Neetishastra, Chanakya, Kluless, Gordian Knot and Kalpavriksha. Mridang, the annual cultural festival made its presence felt across the state of Madhya Pradesh with its attempt to break the World Record for the Largest Glass Mosaic. Other events such as Lavanya (Fashion Show), Laasya (Dance), Bazinga and Distortion (Rock Show) received participation from over 40+ B-Schools. Over the past few years, participation in Ahvan and Mridang has increased many-folds along with the increased involvement of several top-notch corporate houses. In 2013, IIM Indore received participation of close to 10,000 students from more than 50 Premier B-Schools across the country. But as they say History repeats itself. Hence this year IRIS is reborn from Ahvan and Mridang. Since the merger of the Cultural and Management fests into one, Iris has become grander and bigger introducing new events and carrying forward the past with grandeur and brilliance.
Just as the arch of the rainbow is symbolic of gateways, openings and portals, similarly IRIS 2014 marks our entry into new territories with an amalgamation of old and new events but on a much larger scale.

Come be a part of the biggest fest in Central India.
Witness the Legacy of IIM Indore.
Welcome to IRIS 2014!
